Directed Energy Deposition (DED) Process: State of the Art

Abstract Metal additive manufacturing technologies, such as powder bed fusion process, directed energy deposition (DED) sheet lamination etc., are one of promising flexible technologies due to direct fabrication characteristics a metallic freeform with three-dimensional shape from computer aided design data. DED processes can create an arbitrary on even and uneven substrates through line-by-line material. Theses easily fabricate heterogeneous material desired properties via successive simultaneous depositions different materials. In addition, hybrid process combining be conveniently developed. Hence, researches the have been steadily increased in recent years. This paper reviewed research trends their applications.
